Technology marks 10th patent for R&D-driven firm
ISSAQUAH, Wash. - July 17, 2002 - Applied Precision, LLC has been awarded U.S. Patent 6,414,477 B1 for the technology embodied in its waferWoRxTM Probing Process Analysis System. Use of the system has become a standard practice within the wafer-testing segment of the semiconductor manufacturing industry. The patent, granted July 2, 2002, covers the waferWoRx system’s method of quantitatively determining probe card errors by relying on merged data sets from a probe card analysis machine and a scrub mark analysis machine. Determining these errors provides an indication of probe card / probe machine tolerance, enabling test floor managers to optimize their probing processes and the fab’s throughput and yield.
Applied Precision CEO Ron Seubert says, “Our intellectual property portfolio is one of Applied Precision’s greatest assets, and this patent is the latest in our stable of innovative, proprietary technologies. We will continue the intense R&D work that led to the development of the waferWoRx system, and expand upon our patented methods to provide ever better ways to improve process control and fab yield for our worldwide base of semiconductor customers.”
