Partnership gives customers a single source for closed-loop probing solutions
SAN JOSE, CALIF. - July 17, 2002 - Electroglas, Inc. (Nasdaq: EGLS), a leading supplier of process management tools for the semiconductor industry, and Applied Precision, LLC, have entered a partnership under which Electroglas will distribute Applied Precision's waferWoRx® Probing Process Analysis System. The partnership allows Electroglas to offer a complete, closed-loop solution - from prober to probing process analysis tool - for semiconductor sort floors.
"Customers today are looking for capital equipment suppliers to deliver process solutions, not just a piece of hardware, and the ability to distribute waferWoRx with our probers verifies our commitment to delivering that level of value with world-class hardware and complementary, integrated software," said Curt Wozniak, chairman and CEO of Electroglas. "In the past 18 months, we have seen waferWoRx analysis become a de facto industry standard and we believe it is a perfect fit for delivering our process management strategy."
The agreement calls for the Electroglas worldwide sales team to distribute the waferWoRx system throughout North America, Japan, Korea and parts of Europe. Applied Precision will continue to provide field service and technical support for all waferWoRx customers.
"We are very excited to be partnering with one of the world's leading prober suppliers. This agreement is an example of our commitment to improving semiconductor process control capabilities," said Ron Seubert, CEO of Applied Precision. "The combination of Electroglas' probing technologies with the information obtained from the waferWoRx system will provide a significant advancement in probing process control. This is critical to our mutual customers as they adopt next-generation technologies that require more accurate probing of higher-density, smaller-geometry devices."
Applied Precision's waferWoRx system enables users to quickly and easily diagnose problems in their probing processes by capturing images of probe scrub marks, measuring scrub mark data and extracting detailed information about the probing process. The data and analysis are presented in an easy-to-read report card and/or wafer view of graphical displays indicating probing process variances.
