DNA, protein and SNP microarray reader to be made available in the Republic of Korea
Issaquah, Wash., U.S.A., and Seoul, Republic of Korea - July 23, 2001 - Bio-Medical Science Co., Ltd., one of Korea's leading companies in the life sciences research market, will be the country's exclusive distributor of Applied Precision, Inc.'s arrayWoRxeTM Biochip Reader. Bio-Medical Science serves such high profile local clients and research partners as Seoul National University and Samsung Research Institute.
"This is a great opportunity for us to have a local distributor and to expand our visibility in Korea," said Joe Ahladis, vice president of sales, marketing and customer service for Applied Precision. "Korea's rapidly expanding biotechnology market requires increasingly competitive high technology solutions to support the strategic plans of local research centers and manufacturers to compete on a global scale. The arrayWoRxe Biochip Reader will help take Korean research and technology to that next level."
As one of Korea's most respected leading distributors of life science technologies, Bio-Medical Science will be a critical reseller for Applied Precision's newest biotechnology product. According to Mr. Sun K. Kim, president of Bio-Medical Science, "We are excited to offer Applied Precision's latest biotechnology solution to the Korean market and expect that the arrayWoRxe will be warmly received by Korea's growing biotech research and manufacturing communities."
The arrayWoRxe is designed for highly accurate imaging and analysis of microarray data, enabling scientists to conduct in-depth research into DNA, proteomics, genomics and SNPs. The PC-based system uses Applied Precision's proven light delivery and collection technology that combines a white light source and CCD (Charged Coupled Device) camera, rather than a laser light source and PMT (Photo-Multiplier Tube). This technique provides users with greater flexibility by allowing experiment designs using a wide variety of fluorescent probes and up to four wavelengths on one biochip.
