APPLIED PRECISION'S arrayWoRx LEADS MICROARRAY SCANNERS IN DATA INTEGRITY, REPEATABILITY, AUTOMATION, SCANNING EFFICIENCY
Solid-state, White-light-source-based Scanner Makes European Debut at Analytica 2000

Munich, Germany - April 11, 2000 - The arrayWoRx™ microarray scanner from Applied Precision Inc. is more precise, repeatable, automated and efficient than any laser-based scanner on the market, thanks to precisionware™, the company's unique convergence of mechanics, electronics and software. The system demonstration at Analytica 2000 marks the first time most European academic, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical scientists will see the scanner's capabilities. MEMOREC (Köln, Germany) and GeneScan Europe (Freiburg, Germany) currently use arrayWoRx.

Applied Precision's arrayWoRx microarray scanner is used in a wide variety of applications, including proteomics, genomics, cDNA expression arrays, combination chemistry, antibody screening and single nucleotide polymorphisms. Academic institutions use arrayWoRx for research into genetic mechanics. Industrial organizations use arrayWoRx for pharmaco/ toxicogenomics and research into new drug target structures.

"Applied Precision is expanding its international reach by demonstrating the arrayWoRx microarray scanner at Analytica," said Rich Fisler, product line manager, Applied Precision's biotechnology solutions. "We recognize the importance of European research and development (R&D) and production, and we hope to show other institutions how arrayWoRx provides data four times more precise than laser-based scanners. With the increased quality and efficiency of arrayWoRx, scientists can speed learning, drug discovery and medicine worldwide."

Analytica attendees are invited to visit API in hall B5 at booth 225 to see the arrayWoRx microarray scanner and Applied Precision's DeltaVision restoration microscopy system.
