Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Department: Operations
Reports To: Director of Manufacturing Operations
Position Summary:

In this position you will be responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes, instrumentation and equipment, and assist in resolving related problems both for new and existing products. You will support the production of high precision mechanisms, optical transmission systems and related state-of-the-art equipment.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain procedures for assembling and testing precision electro-mechanical equipment. Train operators to these procedures.
  • Provide input to design engineering on design for manufacturability, serviceability and reliability of components and assemblies, and design changes for cost reduction.
  • Determine the root cause of issues in manufacturing (parts, process, tooling etc.) and eliminate these issues in future production.
  • Support engineering change notice, fault tracking, and deviation processes.
  • Support purchasing and vendors with engineering processes.
Qualifications:
  • BSME required
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the design, development and implementation of manufacturing processes and equipment in a manufacturing environment, preferably high precision electro-mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and developing manufacturing processes, tooling, and workflow to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality
  • Technical expertise to perform root cause analysis; eliminating problems through design analysis and component level troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work well under compressed time constraints; ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at one time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with tools required for mechanical assembly and inspection.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office tools.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and AutoDesk Inventor. Experience with MRP systems a plus.
